Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

APPLICATION DEADLINE: by 3:00 pm, March 27th, 2026 (postmarked by date) 

Community Foundation for Rockbridge Bath and Alleghany: Several scholarships are available
through the Foundation, with only one application: 

Charles L. Lauck, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Typical Grant: $1,000

Fund provides higher education scholarship assistance to graduating Rockbridge County High School students.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be a graduating senior who has attended Rockbridge County High School for all four years.
  • Demonstrate high moral values, a concern for others, and involvement in the school and community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance an academic, athletic, and community-oriented career while in high school.
  • Financial need and work ethic (will be considered but will not weigh as equally as the other qualifications).
  • Recommendation Forms must be completed by any academic teach who has taught the student, an athletic coach who has coached the student, and any guidance counselor who has counseled the student.

ESSAY TOPIC: Provide information on your educational and occupational plans and why you have chosen them, your financial need and work history, if any, and why you think you are qualified to receive this scholarship (one page maximum).

Jacqueline Corbin Pleasants Democratic Scholarship

Typical Grant: $2,500

Fund provides higher education scholarship assistance to needy and deserving students graduating from Rockbridge County High School or Parry McCluer High School.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a graduating senior who has attended Rockbridge County High School or Parry McCluer High School.
  • Enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four year college or university.
  • Demonstrate a capacity to satisfactorily complete college-level studies.
  • Demonstrate good citizenship and leadership as evidenced in school and community activities.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

George C. Marshall Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America Scholarship

Typical Grant: $2500

The applicant must:

  • Be a financial dependent of a veteran. A veteran is defined as an individual who is currently on active duty, or has served honorably, in a uniformed service of the U.S. Defense Department or in the U.S. Coast Guard.
  • Be a graduate of a high school or equivalent in Rockbridge County in the year of application.
  • Enroll in an accredited four-year college or university, a two-year community college, or an industry-recognized technical trade school.
  • Based on high school scholastic and vocational course performance, demonstrate a capacity to satisfactorily complete the chosen institution’s course of study.
  • Demonstrate good citizenship and leadership qualities as evidenced by participation in school extra-curricular and community activities, or by commercial employment.

Lexington High School Alumni Scholarship

Typical Grant: $500

Fund provides higher education scholarship assistance to needy and deserving students graduating from Rockbridge County High School.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a graduating senior who has attended Rockbridge County High School.
  • Enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four year college or university.
  • Demonstrate a capacity to satisfactorily complete college-level studies.
  • Demonstrate good citizenship and leadership as evidenced in school and community activities.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Blair Family Scholarshipp

Typical Grant: $500

Scholarship Amount: The amount and number of scholarships awarded will be determined annually by the Foundation’s spending policy and future growth of the Fund.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a graduating senior or graduate of Rockbridge County High School.
  • Enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four year college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Demonstrate a capacity to satisfactorily complete college-level studies through high academic achievement.
  • Demonstrate good citizenship as evidenced in school and community activities; with strong preference to applicants with extensive leadership experience in 4H and athletic participation.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Resident of Rockbridge Baths Area.

The Pastor Fred Scholarship

Typical grant: $500

Elibibility Criteria:

This scholarship is available to a graduating senior from RCHS attending a trade school, two-year
or four-year university. Demonstrate good citizenship as evidenced in school and community
activities, with a strong preference for applicants with extensive leadership experience. Financial
need is a key component. Please see the application for more details.

Stonewall Jackson Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship:

Typical grant: $500

Elibibility Criteria:

This scholarship is available to a graduating senior from RCHS; student must be enrolling in an
accredited two or four-year college or university; demonstrate ability to balance college-level
studies through high academic achievement; must be pursuing a degree in the medical field; must
demonstrate financial need.

Jaclyn’s Hope Scholarship 

Typical grant $250

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant must be enrolling in a full time college or university in Virginia for the Nursing
Profession (CNA to RN); demonstrate good citizenship as evidenced in school and community
activities; strong leadership experience preferred; and demonstrated financial need.

Rotary Club Lexington Sunrise Foundation Scholarship

$500 per semester for two years at Mountain Gateway Community College

Eligibility Criteria:

Be an accepted student at MGCC to attend as a full-time student (9 or more credit hours per
semester; demonstrated financial need (THIS IS A PRIMARY CRITERIA); and maintain a GPA over
2.0.

Single Mom Scholarship

Typical Grant $2500

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a single mother
  • Be accepted into a trade school, college or post-graduation trade program
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be a resident of CFRBA’s service area 

Nancy Miller Littlepage Scholarship

Typical Grant $2500

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Rockbridge County Graduate/Resident
  • Demonstrate Financial Need
  • First generation college attendee
  • Enroll full time in two- or four-year college or university
